Auto Insurance

Owning a car can be a real hassle. Anything that can go wrong with a car usually does sooner or later. A car is a huge investment, and you should protect it. Auto insurance is one way to accomplish this. Plus, having auto insurance is mandatory in most states in the US.

Coverage

You must at least have liability insurance if you want to legally drive on public roads. This protects you as well as others on the road. Accidents can happen at any time. With insurance, you will receive financial help if you’re in an accident or cause someone else to have an accident. Just keep in mind that liability is practically a must no matter where you live. But other types of insurance to consider include:

Collision coverage to pay for expenses to repair your car following an accident. If the vehicle is beyond repair, then the insurance company will cover the value of your car up to policy limits. Comprehensive coverage is for damage to your car in general, and isn’t restricted to collisions. Basically, it’s all-around coverage that helps if your car is stolen, vandalized or damaged in a non-collision incident. Personal injury coverage is for medical expenses of you and your passengers regardless of who is at fault.

Another important type of coverage is uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Some people drive without insurance, in spite of it being illegal to do so. Some people also have very little coverage. With uninsured/underinsured protection, your insurance company will help if you have an accident with one of these drivers.
